作品介紹

Everything eventually melts away and vanishes, yet there are things that endure. Something anyone *can* possess, yet not just *anyone* does. Something that remains by our side to the very end—even as the cold winter gives way to a warm spring, and even when body and soul melt until their forms are no longer recognizable. I believe it is this that makes us who we are today.

Everyone harbors thorns.
My thorns are yellow; yours are blue.
Just as every person is different, the shapes and colors of our thorns vary, too.
To become friends means embracing thorns that are different from one’s own.

The cactus represents a friend, family, and the self.
Anyone willing to embrace another—even at the risk of being pricked by their thorns—is a cactus.
We all harbor thorns, yet no two sets of thorns are alike.
Just as you and I—and all of us—are different.

This work began by visualizing the heart’s impulse to embrace another.
At first glance, it may appear sweet and bright, but in reality, thorns are embedded throughout the heart.
Yet, because of love, we embrace and cradle those thorns.
I aim to express that universal sentiment—one we have all felt at some point—in a bright and warm way.
It is created with the hope that the "spiky" individuals living on this round Earth might find happiness.
